HISTORY
When Duel Monsters first came out, Araya's father was a massive fan. So much so that when she turned three, he taught Araya how to duel. She honest to goodness enjoyed it - they would often have duels when he got home and she would spend her time coming up with a new deck to duel him with. Yet there came a time - mainly when she was five - that he could no longer keep up with the rate she was progressing. Because of that, Araya sought out new challenges to push her limits. Essentially, she started dueling some of the other neighborhood kids. The problem with this was that she was an exceedingly sore loser thanks to her habit of winning and thus always shut herself in her room and edited her deck when she lost. Araya would then return and challenge them again - this time winning. This cycle continued on and on until one day the new boy challenged her to a duel. She accepted and - unsurprisingly - lost. She did her usual deck-edit trick but that didn't work as she lost again! This continued for the next few years until she finally accepted defeat. But this boy thought they had become friends and told her to continue aiming for new heights.
Those words confused Araya until she saw a video of the current King of Games dueling. It was then that - while she didn't understand those words - she decided to aim to be the next King of Games. Or was it Queen? It still confused her but Araya continued to build her own deck - a personal deck that she would only edit minor details on. This deck was going to take her to the top!
When she turned thirteen, her parents had a surprise in store for Araya - one she hadn't been expecting at all. They told her that she would be going to Duel Academy when it opened up that year. She was over the moon and exceedingly excited to enter the school - so much so that she arrived early. Unfortunately, Araya didn't know that there was going to be an entrance exam so she expected to either fail or be placed in the lowest tier. However it was all questions about Duel Monsters followed by a duel, so she placed above-average in the rankings. Araya was put in the Ra Yellow dorm. She's now in her second year of Duel Academy and is aiming to get into Oblisk Blue by the end of the year.
